Booking & Payments
How do I book a trip?
You can book via our website, WhatsApp (+254 74715 3240) or by calling us. WhatsApp is the fastest: send us your preferred trip, travel dates and group size and we'll confirm availability and send a payment link within hours.
What payment methods do you accept?
M-Pesa Till, bank transfer, Visa/Mastercard (via Pesapal) and cash. Lipa Mdogo Mdogo (instalment payments) is available: pay a minimum deposit to reserve your spot and clear the balance before departure.
What is Lipa Mdogo Mdogo?
Lipa Mdogo Mdogo means 'pay little by little' in Swahili. It's our instalment payment plan: pay the required deposit to lock in your spot, then pay the remaining balance in instalments before the trip's balance due date. No interest, no hidden fees.
How much deposit do I need to pay to secure my booking?
The deposit depends on the trip: day hikes and day tours have a fixed deposit per person, while multi-day safaris and expeditions use a percentage of the total package cost. The exact deposit and balance due date are shown on each trip page.
Do I get a receipt for my payment?
Yes, we send a payment confirmation and booking receipt via WhatsApp and email after every payment. Keep these safe as they are your booking confirmation.
Safaris
Are park fees included in your safari prices?
Yes, Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Samburu and all other park entry fees are included in our safari package prices for the quoted number of guests. There are no surprise fees at the gate.
What is the difference between low season and high season pricing?
The Maasai Mara National Reserve charges different park fees depending on the season. January to June (low season): USD 100/adult/day. July to December (high season, peak migration): USD 200/adult/day. Our package prices reflect these seasonal differences.
Can I upgrade to a flying package?
Yes, flying upgrades are available for most of our safari packages. The Wilson Airport to Amboseli airstrip upgrade costs USD 200 per person return. Wilson to Maasai Mara (Ol Kiombo) is USD 280 per person return. Contact us to add this to your booking.
What is included in a full board safari?
Full board means all meals are included: breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout your stay at the camp or lodge. Soft drinks, water and tea/coffee during game drives are also included. Alcoholic drinks are not included.
How many people share the safari vehicle?
Our private safari packages use exclusive vehicles: your group only. We do not add strangers to your vehicle. Group packages (like the Samburu Day Safari at KES 10,000) share one Land Cruiser with up to 6 guests.
Group Hikes
How fit do I need to be for the group hikes?
Most of our group hikes (Mt. Longonot, Elephant Hill Aberdares) are suitable for anyone with reasonable fitness. They are challenging but not technical: no rock climbing or specialist equipment required. Mt. Kenya expeditions require a higher fitness level.
What should I bring on a group hike?
Solid hiking boots or trail shoes, moisture-wicking clothing, sun hat, sunscreen (SPF 50+), at least 2 litres of water, packed lunch/snacks, a light rain jacket and a power bank for your phone. Full packing lists are on each trip page.
Are children allowed on the group hikes?
Children aged 10 and above are welcome on most day hikes with a parent or guardian. We assess suitability on a case-by-case basis. Contact us before booking if you are bringing children.
What happens if it rains?
Group hikes run in light rain. Kenya's highland parks are beautiful in the rain and the trail conditions are generally manageable. In the event of extreme weather or dangerous conditions, we will reschedule your hike at no charge.
Cancellations & Changes
What is your cancellation policy?
It depends on your trip. Safaris, day trips, private tours and accommodation follow our Cancellation & Refund Policy; day hikes, overnight trips and mountain expeditions follow our Hikes Cancellation Policy. All cancellations must be submitted in writing via WhatsApp or email.
Can I reschedule my trip?
Yes, rescheduling is free with 7+ days notice, subject to availability. We will move your booking to your new preferred dates at no charge.
What if Safarizuru cancels my trip?
In the rare event that we cancel a trip (due to extreme weather, park closures or minimum group size not reached), you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no charge.
Practical Questions
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. It is not included in any Safarizuru package. We recommend comprehensive coverage including medical evacuation, trip cancellation, personal liability and loss of luggage.
What should I wear on safari?
Neutral colours: khaki, olive, tan and beige. Avoid bright colours, especially white or red near wildlife. Light, breathable fabrics for daytime. A warm fleece or jacket for early morning game drives (even in hot destinations like Samburu, 05:00 AM is cold).
Is it safe to travel in Kenya?
Kenya is a safe and welcoming destination for tourists. Nairobi, the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Samburu and all our destinations are well-established tourism areas with excellent safety records. We monitor conditions continuously and will advise if any concerns arise.
Do I need a visa to visit Kenya?
Kenya operates an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system. Most nationalities can apply online at etakenya.go.ke before travel. The ETA typically costs USD 30. We recommend applying at least 2 weeks before your trip.
